If you are a financially distressed homeowner and you want to save your "American Dream", pay close attention...
If you plan on attending or know someone that should, I recommend calling NACA first (information is always best from the source). Below you'll find additional information:
~You don't have to wait for an event to get help. Visit their website for other ways to get assistance. https://www.naca.com.
~ These events are held in many states throughout the year. Visit their website for the event schedule/details.
~Persistence is key. In the event you don't get a same day solution, follow-up! Anything in life worth having is worth fighting for. The benefits of home ownership are countless, so invest the time.
~The services provided by NACA are free and many people volunteer their time for this cause. While the events that surround your hardship have been stressful, be patient with those assisting you.
~BE PREPARED TO WAIT. If you attend an event, plan on the lines being loooooooooong. Don't plan on doing anything else that day. Best case scenario- the lines are short and you get through quickly. Worse case scenario- you're prepared.

For NACA's last ATL convention, I posted information on my Facebook page and one of my friends, added a comment. *Disclaimer - This advice comes from a personal standpoint, not from an expert.
Things to know:
(1) Call your mortgage company in advance. Let them know you're coming. That way they can order an estimate of your home, which hopefully will be done in time...or no same day solution. Ask questions.
(2) Have ALL of your paperwork ready when you get there. Have a budget prepared to share, meaning know how much you average for each of your bills and expenses including gas, food, & childcare.
(3) Let them know the steps you've taken to save your home. Ask how going through with this process can help...or more importantly hurt your chances of reaching your ultimate goal (by undoing what you're currently doing...trial modifications).
(4) Have your letter of hardship ready (timeline of events).
(5) If you have a side job that you haven't done in a while, write a letter saying that it is on hold indefinitely.
I hope this information was helpful. Now, it's YOUR turn... If you know someone that could benefit from this, please pass it along. Also,if you've had a NACA success story or experience, please share. Your input could help someone!
GOOD LUCK! I hope it all works out,
